We are so excited to bring you this two-hander with a twist, written by former Sundown member Tristan B. Willis!
In this unique play-within-a-play, two actors meet onstage and flip a coin to determine who will play which role.
Will they become Boris Lermontov, the once-celebrated owner of the Ballet Lermontov, now unraveling in the wake of his prima ballerina’s death—a loss tied to the very pressures he imposed? Unable to process his grief or adapt to a changing world, he clings to a legacy that may already be slipping away.
Or will they play Noa, Lermontov’s assistant, who originally auditioned as a dancer but now occupies a catch-all role in an understaffed company? Noa believes in evolution—that ballet should not be one-size-fits-all, and that art can exist without suffering at its core.
What unfolds is an experiment: are those who step into power inevitably corrupted?
And why do we continue to glorify suffering in the name of art?
Is it truly necessary to achieve greatness?
Can our performers conquer the trappings of power, or will they lose themselves in it?
The great impresario Boris Lermontov would like to invite you to dinner to discuss why supporting his struggling ballet might be in your best interest. After all, they’re thriving… aren’t they?
