This year’s Short Works Fest is another themed edition! We’re spotlighting stories of Pride, featuring work made by, for, and about the queer community.
Submissions will open Sunday, Feb. 1st and close at midnight on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.
We are looking for pieces that run 20 minutes or less. Short plays are always welcome, but we hope to showcase a wide variety of work this year—from performance-based pieces to music, short films, and visual art.
We’re open to anything, so send us all your ideas and short works! Examples of what you might submit include:
- Short plays
- Short films
- One-person shows
- Devised pieces
- Movement theatre
- Dance pieces
- Burlesque
- Music
- Improv
- Sketches
- Poetry
- Stand-up
Our timeline is a little tighter this time around. We will accept concepts or in-progress submissions, but the deadline for a finished piece will be the end of April. If you feel a conversation would be helpful to explain your idea, please reach out and we can schedule an in-person or Zoom meeting.
Additional notes:
Please let us know if you are interested in directing your piece when you submit. This is not a requirement, but it’s helpful to know.
If your material is copyrighted, you will be responsible for obtaining and paying for the rights if your piece is selected.
We are a volunteer-run organization and, as such, do not currently have a budget for stipends (this is a goal we are actively working toward). We deeply appreciate your willingness to share your creative energy with us. Pride SWF is intended as a space for experimentation, visibility, and community-building, and all participating artists are welcome to attend performances for free.
