Season 18: Reignite!

Welcome to Sundown’s season 18: Reignite!

We kick things off with The Great Impresario Boris Lermontov Would Like to Invite You to Dinner, a two-hander with a twist. Each night, the actors flip a coin to decide who plays Boris Lermontov, a boastful ballet impresario, and who plays Noa, an overlooked dancer tasked with serving dinner to Lermontov and his “guest” – the audience. As the evening unfolds, the dinner-party façade cracks, exposing unstable power dynamics and the illusion that the “right” person in charge can fix everything.

Next, we’re bringing back another themed Short Works Festival (yes, even though we’re still recovering from the last one 😅) This time we’re spotlighting stories of Pride, with art made by, for, and about the queer community. Submission details coming soon!

We close the season with a return to devised theatre! Witches explores how language has been used to shape, silence, and control women, and how reclaiming it can be an act of power. Through movement, storytelling, and audience participation, an ensemble of women and non-binary performers will transform fear into fuel, shame into ritual, and accusation into liberation.

From power and hierarchy unraveling over dinner, to queer stories told boldly and on our own terms, to a devised exploration of language, fear, and liberation, this season is about reclaiming voice and refusing to stay quiet.
